The team travelled to Ballintogher on Saturday evening to play the playoff round in the Benson cup competition.

We got off to a good start and lead 1-3 v 0-2 after 10 mins with a goal from Brian Curley and points from Brian Lynn and Niall Judge, however the home team took a stranglehold and went into a 5 point lead coming up to the break when Brian Curley got in for his second goal. From the resulting kickout Michaels went down the field to score a goal to leave the halftime score at 3-6 v 2-4.

We brought the gap down to three points with points from Kevin Langan, but the home side again stretched the lead to 5 points with 12 mins remaining. The play was moving up and down the field and we got the next break when Stevie Kilgallon rolled the ball by the home keeper. This was quickly followed by points from Kevin Langan and Brian Howley.

Kevin Langan put us in front after Niall Judge was fouled but the home team equalised with 2 mins to go. A quick movement down the field saw Patrick Naughton put us in front for the final time and we held out in the 5 minutes of injury time to win 3-11 v 3-10.
