The team travelled to Achonry on Saturday evening for the first round of the county division 2 league to play Mullinabreena.

In a fast paced game the home side settled into the game quicker and an excellent save from Anthony Kilcullen kept us in the game early on. Our first two scores came from a driving run from Kevin McDonnell and Brian Curley. With 20 minutes gone we trailed 0-5 v 0-2, but a purple patch before the break meant we had equalised with scores from Kevin Langan(2), Eoin Flynn and Niall Judge leaving the halftime score at 6 points a piece.

At the start of the second half we took the lead for the first time with two monster points from Kevin Langan followed by another from a Paul Kilcullen free. The sides then traded two points a piece with a Kevin Langan free and and point from play. As Mullinabreena made a desperate last attack for goal they were intercepted by John McDonnell who played in his brother Kevin for the insurance point. This was a very good team performance with standout games from David Carrabine, Kevin Langan, Martin Foody and keeper Anthony Kilcullen.
Next weekend we play Cloonacool in the second round at Corballa on Paddys day at 12pm.
