The West Sligo team travelled to Kerry with our club manager Frank Barrett one of the management team.

The team had 7 members of the Castleconnor panel. They were Niall Judge, Odhrán Quinn, Kenneth Flynn, Danny O'Hora, Paul Flynn and Micheál Cahill.

The Castleconnor lads part of the West Sligo team. Micheál Cahill, James Boland, Paul Flynn, Odhrán Quinn and manager Frank Barrett. Front: Niall Judge, Kenneth Flynn and Danny O'Hora.

Over 3 days the team played in Sneem, Tralee and the final itself in Fitzgerald Stadium, Kerry which was a great experience for the lads.

On the first day the team played in Sneem and defeated the local Sneem team, Glenflesk and Ramor Utd from Cavan.

The second day saw proceedings move to Tralee where we defeated Annascaul in the quarter final and Beaufort in the semi-final after extra time.

In the final we played the home team of Dr.Crokes and at the end of normal time the scores were level 1-7 a piece. In extra time we lead until the final seconds when a goal was scored by the hosts. Though downbeat at the result the lads had a great time.

The players and management wish to thanks all in Kerry for the hospitality and goodwill shown the team. Thanks to parents who travelled with the lads and those who travelled down to the final.

Thanks also to Pat Spillane who gave the lads a talk.
Meeting the legend - Pat Spillane

It was quite noticeable the way the lads improved as the week went on and is perhaps something for the county development group to look at development squads within the divisions.
