13/7/19Our seniors were in action today against Curry. Poor first half saw us go in at half time behind 0-2 to 2-5. However we were a different team in the 2nd half and drew level before Curry pulled away again to win 1-9 to 2-8. Still lots of positive signs ahead of the championship which starts in 2 weeks time.
Our brilliant U10 team were in action today in the Connacht community games semi final against Galway team Moycullen. It was an epic battle. We started slowly and Moycullen held a 7 point lead after the 1st quarter. A goal from Ava Hallinan and some long range points from Oisin Corcoran got us closer in the 2nd quarter but the Galway team maintained a strong lead as we entered the 3rd. It was more of the same in the 3rd, the teams well matched but Galway holding a big lead and going into the 4th we trailed by 9. However our kids never give up, goals from Luke cawley and Finnan Gavin and points from Eamonn Owens meant we ended up winning the last quarter by 6 points and indeed there was controversy as another goal looked to have been scored but the ref adjudged it not to have crossed the line. In the end after a huge effort we were defeated 3-8 to 4-8. Disappointed but very proud as moycullen went on to win the final by 4pts against Balla from Mayo. Kids were deservedly treated to a supremacs and all was well in the world again.
Castleconnor GAA Club thank you for your continued support. Best of Luck to all our players
