U21B FC Round 2, Hazelwood, Sun Oct 21 2018

Castleconnor 1-12 v Calry 3-12

Hard to believe for those in attendance that we lost this game and more so that we lost by 6. After 24 mins we lead 1-6 v 0-2 and had just missed 2 good goal chances when Calry pounced for 2 goals in the space of 30 seconds. Having gone in front through Ronan Wilson from play after a huge run and followed this up with points from Seán Carrabine, Micheál Cahill, Luke Munnelly and a fortuitous goal from Luke we looked comfortable but once the goals went in it all changed. At half time we trailed 1-6 v 2-4.

Ronan like the first half got the scoring going in the second half however this time the answer was a goal from the home side followed by 2 more points to extend the lead to 6 with 16 to play. We rallied at this time and points from Sean, one from a free after Odhrán Quinn was pulled down and Luke Munnelly saw us reduce the gap to 2 points with 5 to play but we ran out of gas and Calry scored 4 unanswered points to finish the stronger and win.

We play Owenmore Gaels away next Sunday at 12:30pm when we need to win to maintain our interest in the competition.

Team: Kenneth Healy, Niall Judge, Stephen Durkan, James Boland, Cian Barrins, Benny Foody, Paul Flynn, Micheál Cahill, Ronan Wilson, Seán Carrabine, James Tully, Odhrán Quinn, Luke Munnelly. Subs: Colm Naughton, Enda Kilcullen, Brian Mahoney

U21B Championship Round 1, Corballa, Oct 6 2018

Castleconnor 2-17 v Drumcliffe 2-9

Despite the poor weather for the previous week, the grounds were in immaculate condition as the team played their first game of the championship. We were in control for most of the game but worringly we let the visitors back into the game on a number of ocassions. In the end our ability to score points from play was what got us over the line.

In the first 10 minutes we could have had the game out of sight as we had 4 good goal chances but failed to hit the target with 3 however a goal from Odhrán Quinn and points from Seán Carrabine, James Tully and Luke Munnelly had us leading 1-4 v 0-1 after 15 minutes. Drumcliffe went up a level and had the lead down to one but points from Sean, Luke and Paul Flynn meant we lead 1-7 v 1-4 at half time.

Despite Drumcliffe getting the first point of the second half this was followed by a goal from Dáire Barrins to extend our lead. Further points from Seán, Micheál Cahill and Odhran put us 6 up with 11 minutes to play. Drumcliffe brought it back to 3 after a screamer of a goal but we finished with power in the end and further points from Luke, Seán and Micheál saw us over the line.

We are due to play Owenmore Gaels next Saturday but as they are playing in the junior final at the same time that is unlikely. Well done to managament Brian Howley and Rory Healy and the panel which was fully used on the day.

Team: Kenneth Healy, Niall Judge, Stephen Durkan, Ronan Wilson, Cian Barrins, Benny Foody, Paul Flynn, Micheál Cahill, Dáire Barrins, Seán Carrabine, James Tully, Odhrán Quinn, Luke Munnelly. Subs: Colm Naughton, Enda Kilcullen

U14 A Hurling Championship Final, Scarden, Sept 30 2018

Castleconnor 3-4 v Tourlestrane 0-4

The team and management made history in Scarden as we won our first A hurling championship in the clubs history. Having gone down earlier in the year in the A u12 final after a replay and extra time and also having lost to Tourlestrane in the Feilé the lads were determined to make this final count.

Whilst the margin was decent the game was always tight and as many county teams found this year a 9 point lead is very small in hurling. Great credit to the squad, Pat Flynn and David Durkan for their immense efforts all year which included in competing in All Ireland Feilé this year.

Team: Seamus Foody Conor McAloon, Lee Gilmartin, William Foody, Paul Ruane, Daragh Flynn, Daragh Bourke, Sean Donegan, Cian Flynn, Eoghan Durkan, Stephen Rogan, Daragh Stenson, Michael Sheridan, Cathal Feeney, Oisín Quinn. Subs; Jack Byron, Neil Rafter, Thomas Sheridan

U18C Shield Final, Scarden Sept 28 2018

Castleconnor 1-8 v Calry 3-14

The season for our young minor team finished in Scarden with a good team performance but with only 3 lads 17 years old and no 18 years old the physical difference showed. Our lads kept going till the final whistle but it was not to be. We were slow out of the blocks unusually for this team and were 1-5 v 0-0 down after 12 minutes. We got ourselves back into the game with a point from Ronan Wilson and James Rafter after the keeper for Calry made a great save from Owen Gillard. These scores was followed by another goal and a few points. Colm Naughton scored an excellent team goal coming all the way from a short kick out and this was followed by another point from play to leave the half time score 2-9 v 1-3

We got off to a great start in the second half with the first 4 points of the half from Oisín Flynn and Ronan. A breakaway goal from Calry but a halt to our comeback and 2 excellent saves from Liam Donegan kept us in the game. Fergal Boland and James Tully kept driving forward and we were very unlucky when a through ball from Matthew Blakeney almost put Patrick Cooney through. Gordon McHale, Daniel Ruane and Dáire Barrins stopped a number of attacks and Andrew Blakeney catching high ball in the midfield with Patrick Cooney coming up the wing meant we never stopped. Rian Winters going back to full back showed he has the ability to play the position. A number of points in the last few minutes saw us go down 1-8 v 3-14.

Thanks to the players and management for their efforts throughout the year, and all are already looking forward to 2019 as all will be underage again.

Team: Liam Donegan, Gordon McHale, Fergal Boland, Daniel Ruane, Rian Winters, Colm Naugton, Patrick Cooney, Andrew Blakeney, Rona Wilson, James Tully, Oisín Flynn, Dáire Barrins, Matthew Blakeney, Owen Gillard, James Rafter. Sub Cathal Feeney

IFC SF Sept 23 2018, Tourlestrane

Castleconnor 0-12 v Curry 3-11

The championship dream for 2018 is over. In an enjoyable game of football where a very large crowd from the parish were there to support the lads, the extra experience and years of senior stood to Curry as they pulled away and withstood our comeback on two ocacssions. We were 1-2 to no score down after 5 minutes but we held them scoreless till the last kick of the half after we had drawn level with points from Seán Carrabine, Stevie Curley Kevin Langan and Kevin McDonnell. At this time Rory Healy and John McDonnell were moping up a lot of ball in the half back line. At the break the score was 1-3 v 0-5

Curry got off again to a good start with a score which we equalised twice through points from Kevin Mc and Stevie. in the 45th minute Colin Gordon was beaten in a 2 on 1 after previously making a double save for Curry to push their lead out to 7 after following with quick points. We showed great spirit and fight at this stage and scored 4 points in a 5 minute spell winning 5 kickouts in a row with Eoin Kent joining Sean and Stevie on the scoring charts. There was a long stoppage after a strong challenge saw former Sligo team mates Patrick Naughton and Sean Davey hit the deck but warriors that they are were up and able to continue. In the 9th minute of injury time, the final minute, Curry intercepted our attack and finished with a goal that did not do justice to the scoreline.

Thanks to the whole squad, management team and anyone that helped in any way throughout the year. Despite going out all can look back and have some reward with out 4th division 2 league title. The squad put in a great effort and deserve enormous praise every one of them for what they managed this year. It is only a few short months after 2 rounds of the league we were down at the bottom of the division but turned it around and won the league with 6 straight wins in a row.

Team: Team: Colin Gordon, Ronan Keane, Keith Earlis, Brendan Howley, Eoin Kent, Rory Healy, Jason Earlis, Kevin McDonnell, Sean Carrabine, Alan Cawley, Kevin Langan, Cian Barrins, Brian Howley, John McDonnell, Stevie Curley: Subs: Patrick Naughton, Paul Sweeney, Paul Flynn. Subs not used Micheál Cahill, Ciarán Kilcullen, Stephen Durkan, Luke Munnelly, Alan Naughton, James Boland, Niall Judge, Liam Naughton, Odhrán Quinn, Kenneth Healy, Brian Mahoney, Benny Foody

Junior B championship quarter final, Sept 15, Carraroe

Castleconnor 2-6 v St.Johns 4-13

The team played excellently in the first half of this game but the strength of their panel proved too strong for the lads on Saturday. As always with the team this was a different team than that which defeated Enniscrone in the previous round. Having 18 players on the evening we went with 15 a side also however we were slow to start and were 1-3 down after 8 minutes. We played the last 20 minutes on the front foot and a converted penalty from Eamon Cawley and ahigh ball sent in by Barnes Kelly and finished to the net by Stevie Kilgallon. Points from Eamon, Patrick McGuinness and a lovely dinky one from Ronan Martin after a deft Kieran Cawley pass saw us lead at half time 2-4 v 1-6.

Whatever happened at half time but there was a complete change in reffing style after the break which saw a number of our players yellow carded when in possession of the ball! Patrick and Mattie Cullen were our scorers in the second half. Our 2 stalwarts in the full back line Niall Judge and Liam Naughton were outstanding again putting themselves into contention for the intermediate semi-final next weekend

Thanks to all the players for their efforts throughout the year and that is a lot of players. Thanks to management for managing to get teams out at all times.

Team: Trevor Feeney, Niall Judge, Liam Naughton, James Boland, Tomas Cawley, Patrick McGuinness, Frank Barrett, Paul Kilcullen, Kieran Cawley(0-1), Brian Mahoney, Eamon Cawley(1-2), Barnes Kelly, Mattie Cullen(0-1), Stevie Kilgallon(1-0)Ronan Martin(0-1). U14 A Football championship semifinal Sept 14 2018 Corballa

Castleconnor 1-13 v Shamrock Gaels 6-3

Goals win games and never was this more evident then on Friday evening when Shamrock Gaels got the goals at the most critical times especially in the second half when they were creaking. Our lads gave an excellent performance in the second half after turning over 3-1 v 0-3 down. That first half saw us play with plenty of endeavour but our finishing and final pass were off.

Gaels got an early goal to extend their lead after half time but then our lads stepped up taking points from play and frees with Stephen Rogan and Michael Sheridan popping up with 2 each and Colm Ruthledge and Cathal Feeney driving one just over the crossbar. A well taken goal followed by 2 more points put us 2 points up. In the following play a cross field ball saw Stephen Rogan beat full back and keeper to the ball but his fist of the ball came back off the crossbar. This turned out to be the turning point as Gaels scored 2 goals in quick succession the second one we had a number of chances to clear. The lads worked hard till the end but could not breach the Gaels defence which at this stage was all their players.

Thanks to the players and management for their efforts through the year, only being beat in the A league final and going down to Marys and Gaels in the A championship. It was an excellent year for the complete panel and they showed great strides to place themselves in the top2/3 teams at u14 in the county.

U16B championship playoff Sept 10 2018, Coola

Castleconnor 0-8 v Shamrock Gaels 2-22

The u16 season came to an end in Coola on Monday evening when we put in a poor first half display which meant even though we improved significantly in the second half we had left too much to do

Thanks to the players and management for their efforts throughout the year, a group who won the B league shield earlier in the year.

IFC QF Sept 9 2018, Tourlestrane

Castleconnor 0-13 v Buninnadden 0-6

After a tight and tense first half which saw both teams squander a number of good chances for goals and points we took a firm grip on the game in the second half and for the second game running restricted the opposition to 1 point from play.

Seán Carrabine had us up and running in the first minute with a long range outside of the left. Buninnadden responded with 2 points before Kevin McDonnell was pulled down and Sean pointed the free. Stevie Curley equalised again in the 16th minute with a chip over from near the end line. At this point both keepers made good saves where either side could have goaled. A free by Stevie and a point from play from Kevin Mc saw us lead at the break 0-5 v 0-4.

We got off to a great start in the second half with some great fielding from Eoin Kent and Sean who picked up a bloody nose and had to go off for repairs for 10 minutes. However by the 40 minute we had extended our lead out to 0-9 v 0-4 with 2 long range frees from Stevie, a 45 by Sean and a point from play by Kevin Langan. The defence were very much on top at this point with John McDonnell, the Earlis brothers, Ronan Keane and Brendan Howley all on top. Paul Flynn and Brian Howley came on after good shifts from Micheál Cahill and Paul Sweeney and Alan Cawley scored 2 points from play with Sean scoring a free after Stevie was pulled down. Rory Healy stormed up field in the last minute and after playing a 1-2 with Cian Barrins put the ball over with aplomb.

Before the game the draw for the semi finals took place and we now face last years senior team Curry in the county semi final. Well done to the whole panel and coaching setup.

Team: Colin Gordon, Ronan Keane, Keith Earlis, Brendan Howley, Paul Sweeney, Rory Healy, Jason Earlis, Kevin McDonnell, Sean Carrabine, Alan Cawley, Kevin Langan, Cian Barrins, Micheál Cahill, John McDonnell, Stevie Curley: Subs: Eoin Kent, Brian Howley, Paul Flynn

Junior B Football Championship Sept 8 2018, Corballa

Castleconnor 4-7 v Enniscrone 1-7

The mens junior team progressed to the knockout stages of the junior championship with a well deserved win over our near neighbours. Despite the weather all day it cleared up for the game. Our ability to take our scores when the chances presented themselves was the difference.

In a low scoring first half a Brian Mahoney point got us off the mark before Barnes Kelly with a goal. Eoin Flynn scored 1-1 in a 2 minute spell to see us lead at half time 2-2 v 0-2. Eamon Cawley and Paul Kilcullen were in control at midfield with Niall Judge and Liam Naughton having stormers again in the defence.

A scoring burst early in the second half with a goal from Stevie Kilgannonand points from Frank Barrett and Eamon saw us stretch out to a 10 point lead. Enniscrone did close the gap to 4 points later in the half but a late goal from Ronan Martin and point from Stork Feeney saw us over the line

The team now play St.Johns next in the quarter final

U14 A Championship Corballa Sept 3 2018

Castleconnor 5-11 v Tubbercurry/Cloonacool 4-2

No more than the All Ireland Final the day before we were under pressure for the first 20 minutes but when Stephen Rogan scored 1-2 just before the break to leave us 1-7 v 2-2 in front we drove on in the second half and throughout the field worked very hard to win well in the end though William Foody in the goals made a number of good saves to ease us over the line. The league section of the championship is now over and we sit joint top with St.Marys. We await further details of the knockout rounds. Well done to all the panel and coaches for a great effort so far this year

U14 Hurling championship Aug 31 2018

Castleconnor 9-9 v Western Gaels 3-4

The battle for superiority in West Sligo and for top of the table in the championship was up for grabs on Friday evening. The second half was played in a constant downpour and was fairly dark by game end.

A tight and tense first 10 minutes saw the score 0-3 v 0-1 to ourselves but once Stephen Rogan hit the top corner of the net we took control and went 2-5 v 0-2. Our ability to score on the run was proving crucial and a soccer lob by Cathal Feeney before the break saw us lead 3-6 v 1-3 .

The second half saw our ability to score from play pull away for a deserved vistory and sees us top the group at this point.

IFC Rd2 Connolly Park, Colloney, Aug 26 2018

Castleconnor 1-13 v St.Pats 2-5

Castleconnor were never headed in this game at Connolly Park on Sunday but let Pats back into the game with the concession of 2 goals in the second half. Pats showed plenty of effort early on and dominated possession but eh inability to score from play and frees meant they did not get a foothold in the game. Castleconnor scored on their first 4 attacks with points from play from Stevie Curley, Kevin Langan, Sean Carrabine and Alan Cawley. Castleconnor lead 0-5 v 0-3 after 25 minutes with Pierce Kearins scoring 2 frees fro Pats but a purple patch before the break with scores from Stevie Curley(2), Micheál Cahill, Kevin Langan and a monster from under the stand by Kevin McDonnell meant the red and white lead 0-10 v 0-3 at the break.

The start of the second half saw Cahill score with a reply from Kearins from a free. An intercepted pass by Cian Barrins in the 39th minute saw him drive at the Pats defence and finish to the roof of the net seemingly putting the game to bed. Both teams traded points from frees by Curley and Kerins but in the 46th minute Donal Brady won a breaking ball at midfield and following a strong solo run side footed to the corner of the net. This was followed a few minutes later with Kearins palming a ball to the net after Colin Gordon had saved a pile driver from Conal Kearins. Alan Cawley eased Castleconnor over the line with a point from play. St.Pats will rue their ability to score points from play and frees whilst Castleconnor will wonder what happened in the last 15 minutes to let Pats back into the game. Castleconnor now meet Buninnadden in the quarter finals whils Pats face Geevagh in the relegation playoffs.

Minor C championship Carraroe, Aug 22 2018

Castleconnor 0-7 v St.Johns 1-10

The lads first game in over a month saw us travel to Carraroe. This was a game up for grabs all the way through with neither team able to get well out of sight of the other. Ronan Wilson with 2 and Dáire Barrins were the point scorers in the first half where we finished the half 0-3 v 1-6 down. Fergal Boland was having a stormer at full back and with Owen Gillard and James Rafter getting on a lot of ball in the forward line we were unlucky to not get back in for a goal with the keeper making an excellent save from Matthew Blakeney. Colm Naughton, Wilson, Winters and Tully scored in the second half. The team have a break again for a few weeks with a bye in the last round.

U14 Hurling Championship, Oxfield Aug 22 2018

Castleconnor 3-9 v Drumcliffe 0-7

The long trip was worth it when our lads put in a great performance overcoming one of the competitions favourites. We now sit on top of the table with our next game versus Western Gaels

Junior B football championship, Oxfield Aug 18 2018

Castleconnor 0-1 v Drumcliffe 2-12

A team of varied ages travelled in hope rather than expectation to meet Drumcliffe. With ages varying from 17 to 47 in the team we actually put in a good first half but failed to raise a flag when halftime arrived we trailed 0-8 v 0-0. Two early goals at the start of the half put us in a bad way but the lads responded and it took an excellent save to keep Kevin Barrins from scoring an opening goal. Patrick McGuinness scored from long range after James Tully had hit the post earlier. No one was complaining when the final whistle was blown as the game was played in a constant downpour. Both Niall Judge and Liam Naughton had excellent games.

U14 A football championship Aug 17 2018

Castleconnor 3-8 v Shamrock Gaels 1-6

Shamrock Gaels were visitors to St Brendans park for the 2nd round of the U14 A Championship on Friday 17th. It would be a tough challenge for the home team who were missing a number of players who featured in the away win to Coolera due to holidays. The first half was a tough one for our lads with Shamrock Gaels going 6 points ahead. However, an exceptionally strong 2nd half display saw us come out with a brilliant 3-8 to 1-6 victory. The foundation for the victory was set by the excellent full back line of Darragh Stenson, Cian Flynn and Barry Kilcullen who nullified the shamrocks dangerous inside forward line with Padraic Gavin holding the 40 brilliantly. Jack Byron and Seamus Foody came into the team and put in great performances. The main scores on the day were goals from Seamus Foody, Michael Sheridan and Dara Flynn (1-1), Mathew Langan and Colm Rutledge got 0-3 each.

The victory leaves the team joint top with St Marys with 2 wins out of 2.

All Ireland Hurling - Eoghan Durkan gets the call up Aug 2018

Following in the footsteps of Michael Sheridan (last year) and Niall Judge (football around 2002), Eoghan Durkan has been selected to play in the Cumann na mBunscoil match at Croke Park on Sunday during the Galway v Limerick game.

It is a great honour for the club, Eoghans family and himself to be selected and we all wish him and the family the best on Sunday.

In a final befitting an A final ourselves and Coolera not alone played out a hard fought draw but managed to remain deadlocked even after extra time. The final scoreline was 9 v 9. This is a great achievement for the panel and management and is a great reward for all the effort put in. With the largest number of teams to ever compete in the competition(10) it is some achievement. When we have details of when and where the final is we will tell you right away. Congrats all

IFC Rd1 August 4 2018 Tourlestrane

Castleconnor 0-11 v Enniscrone 1-10

A bad display and a bad result. We played flat throughout with Brendan Howley, Paul Sweeney and Kevin Langan the 2 lads to come away with most credit. The lads have 3 weeks to work on it and get it right for the next fixture which will be against St.Pats on August 26th.

Enniscrone were 2 nil up after ten minutes at which point we had already lost Patrick Naughton to injury in the 3rd minute. In the 11th Alan Cawley scored from play. A minute later a mistake from a sideline ball left Enniscrone with a goal chance which they took.We responded with a free from Sean Carrabine. Kevin Langan scored 2 from play with one from Sean also. Our final point of the half was a free from Sean after Kevin McDonnell was taken out when running for the return pass when in on goal, however no black card issued. The half time score was 1-6 v 0-6

Enniscrone extended that lead right after the break but from the 39th minute they were depending on the counter attack as we laid siege on the goal. However our scoring boots were most definitely not on from play or from frees. Kevin Langan scored 2 from play, Sean from play and a free and Eoin Kent from play after the referee ordered the retaking of a free already scored. The Enniscrone defence defended stoutly with 3 goal line clearances and we helped by missing 4 scorable frees in the last number of minutes but it was not our day.

U14 A football championship Aug 3 2018

Castleconnor 5-16 v Coolera 5-8

The U14s were back in action last Friday 3rd August, this time in Round 1 of the A championship away to Coolera/Strandhill. The teams had previously drawn in the league encounter in a very tight game. We made a good start getting the first few points but Coolera struck for a goal and two points of their own to lead by 3 after 10 minutes. However the team played some great stuff in the 2nd quarter and added 3 excellent goals, 2 from Stephen Rogan and one from Michael Sheridan and went in 5 points up at half time.

Coolera/Strandhill made a strong start to the 2nd half cutting the lead back to 2 points but eventually our lads got back on top and again playing some exciting attacking football. A further 2 goals by Stephen Rogan - one brilliantly set up by Colm Rutledge and the other equally a beautiful assist from Sean Donegan - put daylight between the teams. Coolera fought back with some late scores but we held out to win by 9 points. Star performers were Stephen Rogan with 4 goals, excellent counter attacking at pace by Colm Rutledge, excellent link play by Padraic Gavin and some nice finishing by Michael Sheridan. Midfield of Sean Donegan and Cathal Feeney and Danny Donegan's ball winning at Full forward was always an option on the attack.

Final Score 5-16 to 5-7

Next up a home game against Shamrock Gaels on August 17th

U12 Hurling league July 31 2018

Castleconnor 0-19 v Tubbercurry/Cloonacool 0-0

A comprehensive victory for the girls and boys last night at a home game. A few must have been watching the games at the weekend with a few top corner goals scored.

The team remain in 2nd in the league with one more game to go.

U16 B Championship July 30 2018

Castleconnor 2-12 v St.Johns 6-8

St.Johns were visitors on Monday. A tough game was expected with Johns coming down from the A league and it was made harder with a few injuries leaving lads unavailable.

Despite going 1-1 down early we fought back and points from Cathal Feeney, Matthew Blakeney Thomas Langan and Oisín Flynn brought us back into it but a bad 5 minute spell near the break resulting in 3-1 made things stark leaving the halftime score as 1-6 v 4-3

We kept fighting hard in the second half but the closest we got was 4 points. Oisín scored a number of frees to finish top scorer but the loss probably means we will get it very hard to make the championship final

Team: Liam Donegan, Gordon McHale, Patrick Cooney, Daniel Ruane, Rian Winters, Sean Donegan, Matthew Blakeny, Oisín Flynn, Cian Flynn, Thomas Langan, Cathal Feeney, Stephen Rogan, Owen Gillard, Darragh Flynn

U14 Hurling Championship July 27 2018

Castleconnor 5-6 v Tourlestrane 3-14

We travelled to Tourlestrane on Friday evening. However the result did not go in our favour in a high scoring affair which was disappointing. However this is the first round and the lads can be expected to turn it around in the next 3 games. The squad were in Dublin on Saturday for the Galway v Clare All Ireland semi final where they had a great day at a fabulous match

U12 G2Shield Final - Football July 26 2018

Castleconnor 11 v Shamrock Gaels 12

It was heartbreak last night for our young team in Scarden when going down by the minimum in the Shield final. This was a game that was tight throughout with the teams tied on a number of ocassions. Nevertheless the team did very well to reach this stage with a large win over Easkey in the semifinal the highlight. Missing a number of players due to holidays also however all who took the field played excellently.

Team: Diarmuid Feeney, Conor Stenson, TJ Foody, Rory Kennedy, Ben Cawley, Iarla Quinn, Fionn Gordon, James Kenny, Frey O Neill, Kevin Rutledge, Niall Holmes, Dara Harrison, Fiachna Egan Kieran Donegan, Oisin Gavin, Oisín Mullarkey, Shane Kenny, Marc Kenny, Paddy Reape

Minor Championship July 25 2018

Castleconnor 0-8 v Calry 2-16

Played in Hazelwood we were in this game until the last 10 minutes when Calry pulled out too far. In the first 15 minutes we trailed 0-4 v 0-2 with Oisín Flynn putting over an excellent free from out near the sideline and Ronan Wilson scoring from play. Calry hit a purple patch and scored 1-4 without response as we struggled to hold the ball with our hand and foot passing not up to scratch. We got ourselves back in it with 3 well worked points before the break. Half time score 0-5 v 1-9

The second half was a case of missed chances with their keeper making 2 good saves and ourselves squandering 3 very good goal chances from which we got not even a point. Midway through the half a missplaced handpass in attack for us ended in the net for Calry and our race was run.

Team: Liam Donegan, Daniel Ruane, Fergal Boland, Gordon McHale, Colm Naughton, James Tully, Andrew Blakeney, Ronan Wilson, Matthew Blakeney, Oisín Flynn, Patrick Cooney, Dáire Barrins Rian Winters, Owen Gillard

U12 Championship Group 2 Semi Final July 24 2018

Castleconnor 21 v Easkey 5

With the holidays on both teams were short of players but we adapted best of all and playing with a slight breeze in the first quarter we lead 6 v 0 at the first break with Frey O'Neill, Fionn Gordon, Dara Harrison and Ben Cawley the scorers and James Kenny controlling the midfield, Easkey rarely threatened in the quarter. In the second quarter we were in control but were not finding the target as well as previously and turned over at halftime 10-1 up

Despite playing against the elements our good teamwork and always passing to the man in a best position meant we did not look like losing with Diarmuid Feeney not having a lot to do as Conor Stenson, Iarla Quinn, TJ Foody and Rory Kennedy were snuffing out any glimpse of goal Easkey got. We finished well with scores from Niall Holmes and Kevin Ruthledge after a pass from Fiachra Egan. The team have reached the final where they will face Shamrock Gaels in the final.

Team: Diarmuid Feeney, Conor Stenson, TJ Foody, Rory Kennedy, Ben Cawley, Iarla Quinn, Fionn Gordon, James Kenny, Frey O Neill, Kevin Rutledge, Niall Holmes, Dara Harrison, Fiachna Egan

U16 B Championship July 23 2018

Castleconnor 2-12 v Shamrock Gaels 5-18

The long trip to Coola was in vain last night when we went down to Gaels. In the league earlier we came back from 9 points late on to win but there was no such heroics this time.

At the half time break we trailed by 4 points but probably if we had taken our chances would have been leading. The effort of the first half took its toll in the second half where we ended up losing by 15.

The team are back in action again next Monday when we have St.Johns as visitors to Corballa.

Division 2 League Final July 22 2018, Tourlestrane

Castleconnor 2-15 v Calry 0-15

Division 2 League Final July 22 208

Castleconnor 2-15 v Calry 0-15

Castleconnor have made it back to divison 1 football for the first time after the 2010 season. Having lost the final 3 years ago 6 days after losing the championship final the nucleus of the team wanted to make sure to get into the winning the habit in finals. As with the final round league game in Corballa the previous week we got off to a strong start and after 8 minutes we were 4-2 up with points from Stevie Curley, Sean Carrabine, Alan Cawley and an outside of the right peach from KEvin McDonnell. A point free from Curley and 2 quick ones from play by Kevin Langan with either foot put us up 0-8 v 0-3 after 18 minutes.

Two goals from strong direct running from the middle of the field in a minute saw John McDonnell score a screamer to the top corner and Kevin Langan poking to the net after a Sean Carrabine run saw him survive a tackle that lead to a black card. We finished the half in total control with Kevin McDonnell and Alan Cawley both getting their second points of the half leavin us in a commanding position of 2-10 v 0-4 with us facing the strong summer breeze in the second half.

We scored from the throw in from Carrabine and then did not score for the next 5 minutes when Calry made hay scoring 6 points without response. At this time Patrick Naughton and Rory Healy strong running from defence supported by Paul Sweeney and Jason Earlis on the wings lead to us scoring through Carrabine again. When Calry reduced the lead to 6, Alan Cawley drove over the bar with 8 to go. It was up and down the field game at this point with points being swapped and final points from Kevin Langan and Sean Carrabine from a free only the second for the day saw us maintain the 6 point lead and come out as winners.

This was some performance and turn around by the team and management who were near the bottom of the table but 6 straight wins brought us to the final and the boys carried it on today. John Niland on behalf of the county board presented Rory Healy with the trophy to loud cheers in the hot cauldron of Tourlestrane. Rory thanked Calry for a super game in the final, officials and Tourlestrane park committee as well as our own lads and management.

Congrats to the whole panel who played throughout the league and the management team.

U14 A Football League Final July 20 2018 - Scarden

Castleconnor 2-5 v St.Marys 9-8

The lads performed heroically on Friday night against a stronger opposition in Scarden. We got off to a great start scoring a goal in the first minute from Stephen Rogan and followed soon after by a Danny Donegan point. However Marys went onto have a very strong spell scoring 3-3 in a 10 minute spell. By halftime we were trailing 2-3 v 5-3 and were unfortunate not to have another 2 goals on the scoreboard.

The second half we struggled to get the ball into the scoring area but the heart of the panel can never be questioned in the way they kept going right to the end with Stephen Rogan getting 2 points near the end. Cathal Feeney had to go off early in the second half after taking a bad belt to the head.

As only the 4th team to make this final from the club they can be justifiably be proud of this achievement and can look forward to the championship now with confidence.

Hard luck to the whole squad, there was a great crowd of supporters there too and thanks to all of you also

Minor Championship July 19 2018

Castleconnor 1-9 v St.Marys 2-15

The team put in a very good effort however when we received a very very harsh black card 10 minutes into the second half we were in a very bad situation as we had the bare 13 to play so played the last 20 minutes with one less player.

In the first half we got off to a good start and lead through points by Ronan Wilson and Oisín Flynn. A mixup in defence lead to Marys first goal but we responded well to restore our lead with another point from Ronan. Shortly after we scored a goal from Ronan after a good move from all the way in defence. The last 5 minutes proved costly though when Marys tagged on a few points before the short whistle after scoring a goal leaving them in front 1-4 v 2-7.

We got off to a great start in the second half with points from Ronan, Oisín and Rian Winters. Soon after we were unlucky with a goal chance. At this point we had reduced the deficit to 3 but then received the black. However the lads worked very hard and ended with points from Patrick Cooney and Oisín. The team travel to Calry for their next game next Saurday week.

U12 Hurling July 17 2018

Castleconnor 9 v Western Gaels 9

This game in Quigabar on Tuesday evening was a great advertisement for hurling in West Sligo with both teams showing a great set of skills and stickwork. Nothing could separate the teams and the result was indeed a fair one.

U16 B Championship July 16 2018

Castleconnor 2-12 v Tourlestrane 4-10

In a harsh lesson for the youngsters we lead for 57 minutes of this game but eventually went down by 4. We got off to a great start and were 1-4 v 0-1 up after 15 minutes. By half time we still held a 5 point lead when we lead 2-9 v 2-4 after giving away a bad goal with some loose passing.

The lead was narrowed to 2 points and another time to 1 point on a number of occasions in the half but managed to extend it out with quick responses. With 5 minutes to go we lead by 3 but 2 goals in a couple of minutes were the winning of the game and despite reducing the lead we ran out of time.

There was a lot of good performances throughout the field and the lads can look forward to the next rounds of the championship with confidence.

Team: Liam Donegan, Gordon McHale, Patrick Cooney, Daniel Ruane, Rian Winters, Sean Donegan, Oisín Flynn, Eli O'Neill, Cian Flynn, Thomas Langan, Matthew Blakeney, Stephen Rogan, James Rafter, Owen Gillard, Danny Donegan

Div 4 league July 16 2018

Castleconnor 2-6 v St.Farnans 3-13

This was a hard game to explain as we had plenty of ball but failed to convert it into anything meaningful. A lot of missed chances. Stevie Kilgallon ended up with 2-2 from play but could have had a hat trick. Farnans were more clinical but from half time it was clear there would be only one winner. Unfortunately the loss has cost us a place in the Division 4 league final.

Div 2 League Final Round July 15 2018

Castleconnor 1-11 v Calry 1-7

As it turned out this became a dress rehersal for the Division 2 league final. Our lads with 2 games to go knew if they beat the top 2 teams in the league with 2 games to play they would reach the league final for the first time since 2015. They delivered and finished top of the league as well.

We started in great fashion with points from Seán Carrabine and Kevin Langan with Calry responding with a point. An attempted point from Jason Earlis dropped short and the goalie expected Kevin Langan to get a touch but him slipping on the greasy pitch meant it bounced to the net. At half time we lead 1-6 v 1-1 with Calry getting a goal through a penalty and Ronan Keane getting a point. Both Kevins, McDonnell and Langan saw goalbound shots rocket off the goal post in the last few minutes with the keeper beaten.

We had played with the strong breeze in the first half but that didnt bother us scoring right after the throw in and moving out to lead by 1-11 v 1-1 with 8 minutes played in the half. However that proved to be our final score and for the next 25 minutes (including injury time) we failed to score. Our caused was helped though in the 52nd minutes when the Calry no.6 was given a straight red card. This will be an area where the group will look for improvement next week when we meet the same opposition in the final which looks like it will be in Tourlestrane on Sunday.

Team: Colin Gordon, Ronan Keane, Keith Earlis, Brendan Howley, Paul Sweeney, Rory Healy, Jason Earlis, John McDonnell, Kevin MDonnell, Alan Cawley, Brian Howley, Sean Carrabine, Kevin Langan, Patrick Naughton, Micháel Cahill.Subs, Cian Barrins, Stevie Curley, Stephen Durkan, Luke Munnelly, Paul Flynn

Frank Kelly Mily Run 5k July 15 2018

The rain which started the night before after how many weeks subsided for the runners/walkers/supporters on Sunday morning. From 10am the excitement was building as organisers and competitiors started to arrive. With the league game taking place at 1 it meant the senior players and management were unable to partake however 126 hardy souls took to the road.

In the end we got our 6 different overall winner in 6 years when the Fiddane man Kevin Maye took the honours. In the ladies Eimear O'Connor from Templeboy was the winner.

Thanks to all who took part, the stewards, those who brought refreshments and made food. Thanks to our sponsors and supporters.. It was another great day and a fitting day to remember one of our greats Frank Kelly. David Kelly presented the awards on behalf of the family.

Div 4 League July 12 2018

Castleconnor 7-13 v Calry 0-7

Not a lot can be said about this game. We won very easliy despite being the away team with Alan Naughton causing havoc around the square. It was though a good run out for those lads fighting for a place on the division 2 team

U16 Div2 League Shield Final July 10 2018

Castleconnor 6-10 v St.Farnans/St.Pats 4-14

What an exciting game! We had this game won twice but let the amalgamation team come back within 2 points at the end in particular. However throughout the field the lads put in a great performance with the defence in particular putting in some great blocks and interceptions throughout.

We got off to a great start after going down by a point with goals from Eli O'Neill and Matthew Blakeney and a point from Stephen Rogan at the halfway point of the half. Farnans/Pats then threw over a string of points but we ended the half strong again with Eli pouncing on a keeper mistake and Oisin Flynn driving to the net to leave the score at 4-4 v 0-9.

Rian Winters drove forward from the throw in for a point followed by Matthew Blakeney with one. At this time the defence came under severe pressure and a number of good saves by Liam Donegan and some strong defending by Patrick Cooney, Gordon McHale Sean Donegan and Cian Flynn kept the gap out to 5. We hit a purple patch then with an excellent goal from Eli and points from Eli and Oisin put us into a commanding lead with minutes to go but Farnans/Pats came back again scoring 3-2 in the final minutes and we were very thankful when Daniel Ruane intercepted a pass inside and drove out from defence as he did a number of times in the half before a last kicked goal for the opposition.

Well done to all the panel and management on a hard earned victory

Team: Liam Donegan, Gordon McHale, Cian Flynn, Patrick Cooney, Sean Donegan, Rian Winters, Daniel Ruane, Oisin Flynn, Eli O'Neill, Daragh Flynn, Matthew Blakeney, Thomas Langan, Stephen Rogan, Danny Donegan, James Rafter, Niall Wilson

Div 2 League Round 8 July 7 2018

Castleconnor 3-10 v Geevagh 1-12

An excellent team performance sustained throughout the entire game ensured we won with a bit in hand on Saturday evening. Strong defensive performance and forwards taking the right option along with a strong work ethic were the main points to take from the game. The win has put us into 2nd in the league. If we win next Sunday we will return to the league final for the first time in 3 years.

We got off to a great start and midway through the half we lead 2-1 v 0-4 thanks to early goals from . Geevagh came back strongly but it was noticeable their scores were mostly from frees. By half time we lead by 3, 2-4 v 0-7 with Kevin Langan and Brian Howley scoring the goals.

Geevagh blew us away in the first 5 minutes of the second half scoring 1-2 without reply to go in front. However Kevin Langan scored one of the best goals I have ever seen up there, when catching the ball over the Geevagh full back with his back to the ball and hitting it into the side netting by the time he landed. The Geevagh full back had no idea what happened. Geevagh responded well with 3 points to lead by 2 with 15 to play. We took a grip of the game and outscored Geevagh 6 v 0 in the last 12 minutes.

The team are at home to Calry next Sunday in the last round of the league. Win and we are in the league final. Well done all

Castleconnor 4-19 v Tubbercurry/Cloonacool 2-8

Good wins for both teams yesterday evening. In the football the playoff to see who finished 4th in the league and thus qualified for the league shield final came about as we finished with same points as Tubber and drew in league proper.

Last night all 6 forwards scored and the defence was as tight as a nut to qualify for the league final which is against the amalgamation of St.Farnans/St.Pats next Wednesday evening.

The U12 team were at home and were in control throughout the game and the result never looked in doubt. The team are well positioned at this stage of the league with 2 games to go.

U14 A league football July 1 2018

Castleconnor 6-10 v Drumcliffe 3-8

Sunday evening the team and a big band of supporters headed to north Sligo to play their final group game against Drumcliff/Rosses Point and thankfully temperatures were down to a more manageable level. We made a sluggish start and found ourselves 9 points behind early in the first half but the team rallied well and ended up going in at half time 2-5 to 2-4 up.

We really upped the performance in the 2nd half playing up the hill and against the wind and ran out impressive winners on a scoreline of 6-10 to 3-8. Big performances from Sean Donegan, Cian Flynn in midfield and all the defence laid the foundations for our forwards to make hay.

Following the two wins the team will now play St Marys in the Div 1 A final at a date to be confirmed. So far it has been a really good year for this team playing A football they only lost 1 game (to table toppers St Marys) and have a 100% winning record at home to boot.

U12 Football League July 1 2018

Castleconnor 12 v Easkey 13

This game was played on Sunday evening after the show. We got off to a slow start and trailed by 9 at half time which proved too big of a mountain to climb for the young lads, however they kept going to the final whistle and almost made up the difference just falling short by one score

Div 2 league June 30 2018

Castleconnor 1-10 v St.Michaels 0-10

Played in Ballintogher on Saturday evening we made hard work of the result after playing some good football in the first half and leading by 1-7 v 0-4 at the break.

In the second hald we seemed to doze off and let Michaels back into the game but held on for the victory.

The scene is set where if we win our last 2 games we will reach the league final.

U14 A football league June 28 2018

Castleconnor 9-9 v Tubbercurry\Cloonacool 6-5

On Thursday at home to Tubbercurry/Cloonacool where temperatures were at 24 degrees during the match. Referee Michael Connolly allowed water breaks in the middle of each half.

Castleconnor played their best football of the year in this defending bravely and counter attacking with fast accurate ball into the forwards. Some great forward play say Danny Donegan, Darragh Flynn and Stephen Rogan bag first half goals to leave us 6 up at the break.

Tubbercurry started brightly in the 2nd half and scored some good goals and showed why they too were flying high in the league but a fine goal from the excellent Colm Rutledge eased the home teams worries and we ran out 9-9 to 6-5 winners. Special mention to Stephen Rogan who hit a magnificent 6-5 (6-4 from play).

Benson Cup Final Round June 24 2018

Castleconnor 2-14 v Enniscrone 2-16

Played in absolutely glorious sunshine, this was a game that held no interest for ourselves as we were already out of the competition whilst Enniscrone required a 12 point winning margin to progress. It looked early on that this may be possible but once Cian Barrins came into the defence we tightened up significantly and came back into the game after the first water break. Referee Pat Normanly decided before the game to have a 2 minute water break after 15 minutes of each half which was the correct decision. Enniscrone rushed into a 1-4 v 0-1 lead with Stevie Curley getting our score. At halftime we had a few more scores on the board from Stevie and Paul Flynn(2) to leave the half time score 2-5 v 0-4.

We continued to struggle after the break but we got off to a good start after the water break with goals from Stevie Curley and a number of points to trail to bring it back to a 1 point game. Enniscrone pulled the lead out to 4 but we finished with 2 final points to finish with a 2 point loss.

We will meet Enniscrone again for the third time this year in the championship on the August bank holiday weekend.

U14 Hurling League Shield FINAL june 21 2018

Castleconnor 8-7 v Western Gaels 2-7

This final was played at Corballa following a coin toss for venue. It was great to see 2 teams from West Sligo in the final and they served up a great hours entertainment with plenty of skill and great scores on display. Castleconnor began to take control in the third quarter and extended their narrow halftime lead with a number of goals.

Congrats to the team and management who have been very busy the last few weeks.

County matters June 21 2018

A busy weekend for players and supporters this weekend. Whilst Sligo hurlers are playing in Croke Park on Saturday (good luck to them) Ronan Wilson will be playing for Sligo Minors against Mayoin Castlebar at 12:30. This game was originally fixed for Ballina which made sense considering the Mayo team have I think up to 7 starters who go to school in Ballina but was changed in the last few days. Good luck Ronan

On Saturday evening Mayo will be in action in Thurles at 5 whilst Kevin and Sean will be getting ready for Armagh at 6 in Markievicz. A tough assignment and I expect the result to be in doubt till the final whistle. Good luck to all involved. Tickets for the Sligo game are available in Moloneys Supervalue and Centra in Enniscrone. Kevin Mc was busy last week raising Stokane NS green flag.

Dates for the diary - Good luck to all involved in the Show

Castleconnor 0-17 v Coolaney/Mullinabreena 0-6

The trip to Achonry was worthwhile for the youngsters as we took control of the game from early on and had the fixture won well before the end. Well done to all involved

Benson Cup June 17 2018

Castleconnor 2-16 v St.Pats 4-8

We travelled to Skreen on Sunday. It was played as a 13 - a side following a request from Pats. In a very disjointed game with goals from Stephen Durkan and Stevie Curley we lead by 3 going into injury time. We still lead by 3 a good number of minutes into injury time and eventually Pats broke through for a goal which was followed by the final whistle.

Div 4 League Rd3 June 12 2018

Castleconnor 1-19 v Easkey 2-6

A very well deserved victory for the team of mixed ages. We let Easkey control the first 15 mins and at this time they were 2-3 v 0-2 up with our concession of 2 very soft goals helping their cause. We managed in the first half to strike the cross bar 3 times and shot at their keeper twice. At half time we lead 0-10 v 2-3 up with Colin Gordon and Barnes Kelly adding a number of points.

We continued to control the second half with Barnes Kelly scoring for fun (0-5 in total) and Odhrán Quinn putting the Easkey backs to the sword. Patrick Naughton playing his second game in 2 days had a stormer in midfield

Team:Trevor Feeney, Brendan Howley, Tom Cawley, Stephen Durkan, Eoin Flynn, Rory Healy, Frank Barrett, Patrick Naughton, John McDonnell, Paul Flynn, Odhrán Quinn, Paul Sweeney, Barnes Kelly, Colin Gordon, Ronan Keane

Div 2 League June 9 2018

Castleconnor 2-16 v St.John 1-14

Playing the current Intermediate Champions was not going to be an easy task but considering we let them off to a 1-3 v 0-0 start after 8 minutes made it monumentally harder. We got back into the game when Stevie Curley starting his first game in nearly 2 years got points from play and frees. Brian Howley added one off the post and once we started to get a foothold in midfield and pushed up on their defenders it began to yield results. Late in the half Seán Carrabine was taken down when driving though on goal and the resulting point left us at halftime trailing by 3 at 1-8 v 0-8

We started the second half in great fashion with points and then a goal after a good move with Seán driving low across the keeper. 2 quick points directly after from Curley and Kevin Langan put us 3 up but Johns fought back with 2 points to leave the minimum between the sides. Another good move all the way from defence saw Stevie curl a low shot around defender and goalie to push us 4 points up . Again Johns responded with 2 points but points from Eoin Kent and Paul Flynn secured the game.

This was a very entertaining game with the result in the balance right up to the last 2 or 3 minutes. Patrick Naughton rolled back the years with an excellent performance and Ronan Keane kept county player Charlie Harrison at bay. It was great to see Stevie Curley coming back into the form we have all missed.

The team are in action next weekend in the Benson cup away to Pats

Team: Kenneth Healy, Ronan Keane, Keith Earlis, Brendan Howley, Cian Barrins, Rory Healy, Eoin Kent, John McDonnell, Sean Carrabine, Alan Cawley, Brian Howley, Paul Sweeney, Odhrán Quinn, Patrick Naughton, Stevie Curley. Subs: Kevin Langan, Jason Earlis, Paul Flynn, Stephen Durkan Liam Naughton

Hurling Feilé

What a weekend for all involved. Thanks to the players management and the parents for all their efforts. We hosted Naomh Adhmanahan/St.Eunans who we played on Saturday morning losing 0-3 v 2-4. They had a busy weekend as they reached the cup final on Sunday but lost there.

On Friday evening the group arrived in Oxfield with our flag flying high along with Benbulben Gaels, East Cavan Gaels and St.Eunans.

We played two games and won both. We defeated East Cavan 3-5 v 2-6 and afterwards defeated Benbulben Gaels for the first time in years with 4-3 v 3-0 victory. With the results on Friday we knew that ourselves and the team we were hosting were already through to the Cup quarter finals at Bekan on Saturday. However we played each other at home on Saturday morning. The pitch and all the facilities were looking brillant - well done to all who got it sorted especially the pitch committee.

We travelled to Bekan and took on St.Malachys, Castledawson Co.Derry. This was a tight affair and we were most unlucky to go down 0-3 v 0-2. Our visitors won their game and were in great form on Saturday evening when they came back to Castleconnor.

Thanks to everyone who did anything in any way over the weekend and in the preparations the last few weeks. It was great for players, officials and club to be involved in an All-Ireland Hurling competition for the first time ever.

Girls win A league title

Congrats to all in Eoghan Rua who defeated Eastern Harps in the u12 A league final on Saturday evening. A good contingent of girls from the parish were involved and it is great to see them continuing on with football.

County matters

Well for those of us who travelled to Salthill on Sunday it was tough. For Kevin and Sean despite playing well it was tougher. Unfortunately such is sporting life, so for the Sligo supporters in the club it is take a breather and get back on the horse again in a few days. For Mayo supporters it is down the N17 to the Gaelic grounds at the weekend where it should be a handy result setting up a possible Sligo v Mayo game in Markievicz (draw to take place Monday!)

For Dara Stenson though he had a great afternoon on Sunday and got a few scores as well as the Sligo minis showed Galway how it was done at halftime on Sunday. Well done Dara (no.9)

U16 League 31 May 2018

Castleconnor 3-10 v Enniscrone/Kilglass/Eaaskey 3-17

In a busy week for the squad they were in action in Quigabar on Thursday evening against another amalgamation who were top of the league.

We were slow to get going which let the home sides get into their stride and at one stage we were trailing 1-4 v 1-0 with Eli O'Neill scoring our goal after a good passing movement. Again we let the lead drift out but an excellent team goal all the way from keeper Liam, through the hands of Patrick, Gordon, Oisin, Darragh, Matthew and Thomas with Eli again putting in the finishing touch. At half time we were behind 2-9 v 2-2

The second half our backs continued to improve as they were beginning to show before the break and this meant that a lot of counterattacking football took place with both sides going for it. We had reduced the lead to 3 with 5 to go after scores from Matthew, Oisín, Eli and a super goal from Thomas. However almost directly after our goal, a driving run by Ennis/Eas saw a goal driven into the top corner.

It was encouraging for all that once the defence got a handle on the attack we created a good 4 goal chances but only took 1-1 from them in the second period. The team now await the final round of fixtures that take place directly after the junior cert but we have a bye in it.

Team: Liam Donegan, Gordon McHale, Patrick Cooney, Daniel Ruane, Rian Winters, Cian Flynn, Oisín Flynn, Eli O'Neill, Matthew Blakeney, Cathal Feeney, Thomas Langan, Darragh Flynn, Stephen Rogan, James Rafter, Sean Donegan, William Foody, Niall Wilson, Danny Donegan

U16 League 28 May 2018

Castleconnor 9-5 v Owenmore Gaels 6-6

A high scoring affair which we came out on top of after the longer than normal journey to Collooney with the road works. The team are in action tomorrow evening again in the refixture of the game with the amalgamation Easkey/Enniscrone. At this point we do not know if we will be in the cup or shield competition but having 3 strong amalgamations in the division should have the coiste na nóg asking questions why were the amalgamations allowed in the first place. It has been fairly obvious that some of these amalgamations should not have been permitted with enough subs for a full team.

Cumann na mBunscoileanna Finals, Markievicz Park, 26 May 2018

A great day for the parish is the most common statement heard in the area in the last few days. The 2 schools Stokane and Corballa had reached their respective county finals and were hoping for success. With great support from all the children and their parents, it was obvious all were up to the task.

Stokane were up first when they took on Kilmactranny in the 2-teacher 5-a-side girls final. It was obvious from early on that our girls were too strong and it was with ease they won the game. Rachel Coggins accepted the trophy on behalf of all the school and supporters.

Corballa were in action 90 minutes later when they took on Holy Family NS , Tubbercurry. Again like the girls they took control of the game right away and it was great to know before the end that the 2 titles were heading back to Castleconnor.

In fact the Corballa lads are DUAL county champions in Hurling and Football

Congrats to all the players, coaches, students, teachers and parents

Benson Cup 26 May 2018

Castleconnor 1-9 v St.Farnans 2-11

As expected we were down a number of players Saturday as were our visitors but maybe it was the heat of the day which meant this game never really got going.

Farnans were into the lead early and were up by 6 at halftime. In the second half with 2 of our 3 management team playing with got the lead back to a point but Farnans finished strongly to deservedly win.

U13 Táin Blitz for NW Connacht 26 May 2018

Some of the lads were very busy on Saturday. We were up against Four Roads (Roscommon), Castlebar Mitchells and Tooreen (Mayo) and Carrick Hurling(Leitrim). We put up a great display in the games and the lads showed they have the ability to take part at this level.

Thanks to the lads and coaches for their efforts on the day

U16 League 25 May 2018

Castleconnor 1-7 v Calry 4-22

A bad evening for the team. With a good number of the team unavailable and having to start with one short of the required number, the lads were always under pressure. However in the first half we got our selves back into it when trailing 3-3 v 0-0 we went on a scoring spree and at half time were behind 3-4 v 1-4.

Making up the numbers we started the second half with renewed vigour but the greater strength withe visitors was very evident and the game was over as a contest early in the half.

The team travel to Colloney on Monday evening for a match with Owenmore Gaels

U14 Football A league 24 May 2018

Castleconnor 6-7 v Shamrock Gaels 5-8

The U14s won their 4th game of the year with a tight two point win over visitors Shamrock Gaels. We got off to a great start with a super goal by Seamus Foody. Shamrock Gaels began to dominate and quickly added a couple of goals themselves. Seamus hit a 2nd goal to keep us in touch but with the match approaching half time Gaels hit a another goal and followed up with a 4th after a harsh penalty was awarded leaving the half time score 2-4 to 4-5 in favour of the Gaels.

We started the 2nd half well but couldn't get a score and it was Shamrock Gaels who extended their lead with another point. It wasn't until the last quarter when we cranked up the pressure and got some rewards. Stephen Rogan hit a hat-trick of goals and also smashed one off the bar to bring us back into contention and only one point adrift. Gaels broke for a counter attacking score which was soon cancelled out by a fine free from Stephen Rogan. With time almost up and Gaels holding a slender one point lead, Rogan hit his 4th goal, burning the defence with pace and placing calmly past the keeper. leaving us in front with the final score 6-7 to 5-8 in favour of Castleconnor.

The U14 team now lie 2nd in the table on 8 points, just 2 behind pace setters St Mary. They are also winning tight games which is great character building for the future

Team & subs: William Foody, Neil Rafter, Cian Flynn, Barry Kilcullen, Eoghan Durkan, Oisin Quinn, Padraic Gavin, Cathal Feeney, Sean Donegan, Mathew Langan, Stephen Rogan, Conor Stenson , Seamus Foody, Darragh Flynn, Michael Sheridan, Lee Gilmartin, Conor McAloon, Stephen Gawley, David Holmes, Conor Brown, Jack Byron

Well done lads

U12 Hurling League May 22 2018

Castleconnor 6 v Coolera/Strandhill 9

The team were in hard luck in this one. I only made the final 3 quarters and had guessed we had won as from start of 2nd to end of game we won 6-5 but unfortunately the damage was done in the first q where we turned around 4 v 0 down. We had drawn level in the 3rd q, however 4 scores in as many minutes restored the visitors lead which they held onto in the final q.

Some very good performances with the majority of our scores coming from open play with all the team getting plenty of game time.

Div 2 league May 19 2018

Castleconnor 0-11 v Enniscrone/Kilglass 0-11

Played in Quigabar with a gale force wind going towards the Sligo side of the pitch this was a game of 2 halfs. Our lads will be disappointed considering they were 0-7 v 0-0 up and around this time missed a few easy chances. At the halftime break we lead 0-9 v 0-3 which looked tight considering the conditions.

In the second hald Enniscrone got the first few scores and 15 minutes in we were 10-6 up. We went very defensive and found it hard to move the ball up the field. An Odhrán Quinn point with 10 to go left us 11 v 9 up but in the 60th minute the home team equalised. In the 2 minutes of injury time we were in control of possession but did not get a shot off in anger.

The two teams will meet again later in the summer when we meet in the Intermediate championship.

Team: Kenneth Healy, Brendan Howley, Keith Earlis, Ronan Keane, Jason Earlis, Rory Healy, Cian Barrins, Ciarán Kilcullen, John McDonnell, Luke Munnelly, Brian Howley, Alan Cawley, Odhrán Quinn, Patrick Naughton, Paul Flynn. Subs: Stephen Durkan, Stephen Curley, Liam Naughton

Minor B Shield sf May 18 2018

Castleconnor 2-7 v Geevagh/St.Michaels 4-17

We travelled through the big diversion in West Sligo on Friday evening through, Enniscrone and Easkey to get to Ballintogher to take on the amalgamation of Geevagh/St.Michaels. Early on it was tight but our inability to take scores and a goal miss let the home team build up a good lead to lead 2-11 v 0-3 at half time with James Tully, Oisín Flynn and Ronan Wilson our scorers.

A quick goal right after the break put the game out of reach for us but in fairness to our lads they played all the way to the final whistle and with goals from Ronan and James and points from Rian Winters and Matthew Blakeney we kept the scoreboard ticking over. The defence worked very hard with Fergal, Daniel and Colm very impressive.

Team: Liam Donegan, Daniel Ruane, Fergal Boland, Colm Naughton, James Tully, Patrick Cooney, Ronan Wilson, Andrew Blakeney, Dáire Barrins, Oisín Flynn, Rian Winters, Owen Gillard, Matthew Blakeney

U14 Hurling league May 17 2018

Castleconnor 5-4 v Western Gaels 0-3

This west Sligo derby took place in Quigabar on thursday evening and it was great to see 31 hurlers from the area between the 2 teams. As was expected our lads with more hurling in them proved the better but it was evident in the next few years when playing under the Western Gaels banner at senior they will be a strong setup in Sligo in the future.

Well done to both teams.

Our lads are preparing for the upcoming hurling Feilé. We have been grouped with St.Eunans from Letterkenny, East Cavan and Benbulben Gaels. We have one home game when we play the team we are hosting St.Eunans on the Saturday morning. The panel are getting excited now as they prepare to create history as the first hurling club from the parish to take part.

Div 4 League Round 1 May 13 2018

Castleconnor 6-12 v St.Molaise Gaels 3-12

We somehow managed to win this game where in the first 20 minutes it looked like anything but. Starting with 47 year old Trevor Feeney in goal gave the side plenty of experience and with the not as old Eamon Cawley around the middle and old boy Colin Gordon inside at full forward their lowness to panic rubbed off on the young lads and we ended the first half leading by 3 when 6 down at one stage when Feeney made a great save. Gordon and Luke the goalscorers. Half time 2-4 v 1-4

6-16 was scored between the teams in the second half. Our defence held on when we had a number of bad wides up the other end but eventually when it was down to a point we broke upfield and took our chances with goals from Luke, Kent, Crouch and Stevie Curley. Good to start this league with a win...

The team are away to Owenmore Gaels next Sunday

Team: Trevor Feeney, Liam Naughton, Tom Cawley, Eoin Flynn, Eoin Kent, Doogie Kilcullen, Eamon Cawley, Crouch Howley, Kenneth Healy, Luke Munnelly, Brian Mahoney, Colin Gordon, Stevie Curley, Alan Cawley, Mark Carr, Dáire Barrins

U14 A Football League May10 2018

Castleconnor 2-4 v St.Marys 9-17

A disappointing result for the team on Thursday evening which was the second trip for some of the lads following the hurling the other night. We were 3-3 to no score down early on and it did not improve much after. The team are still in second place in the league and will be fighting for a home semi final in the league.

U12 Hurling League May 8 2018

Castleconnor 6 v Naomh Eoin 2

The team and management made the trip to Kent park on Tuesday evening where they came out on top. Despite the low scoring there was some very good hurling on show. The team still top the league

County Matters May 6 2018

It was great to be one of the many that made the trip to London at the weekend to see 3 Castleconnor men, county captain Kevin McDonnell, Sean and David Carrabine playing in the Connacht SFC on Sunday. Over 70 club members young and old were in attendance and a large number of them also made the Sligo masters easy win (with Colin and Eamon playing)over London the evening before where the Castleconnor exiles Sean and his son David Igoe were the main men in charge of London. The weather was great as was the craic and the results bar for David Carrabine worked for everyone. It was great to meet up with so many locals in a foreign land and to meet our friends and neighbours who now live in the UK. Just a few pics here but there will be more up on website and facebook later in the week. I can tell you the coverage our lads received and the positivity towards them and the club was superb, the twitter machine is gone mental with it all

No doubt there will be 70+ parishoners in McHale Park on Sunday for the Mayo v Galway game with the winner facing Sligo in the next round. Good luck to Mayo.

Good luck to Ronan Wilson who had a great game with the club minors last Friday night as he prepares for the first round clash with Galway in Markievicz on Friday evening at 7pm

Ballina Rugby win Conacht U13 title and Connacht Junior club of year and player of year

Congrats to our near neighbours Ballina RFC who had another great weekend last weekend when firstly they won the u13 title pictured below with a few of our lads involved -(ye will have to pick them out, I don't know them all sorry :( )

On Saturday night the senior team won Junior club of the year whilst club captain Fergal Tully who we would all know well won Connacht junior player of the year award

Congrats to all

Sligo National School Hurling Finals 4 May 2018

Corballa NS are county hurling champions

Corballa made history on Friday afternoon when winning their first county National schools championship in Scarden. Last year the team reached the final but this time around they won by 9 v 5 over Rathcormac NS.

U12 Hurling League 4 May 2018

Castleconnor 12 v Easkey 0

Played in Corballa on Friday evening, it was a bit late starting with the referee a no show. However when a referee was agreed we were superior in all areas of the field and all the team got plenty of game time in a facile win.

Minor football B shield QF 3 May 2018

Castleconnor 9-11 v St.Johns 0-3

The lads had their first win of the year on Thursday in a game that was over just after half time. The visitors scored the first 2 points of the game but after 10 minutes we got on the scoresheet and it was a tight affair till the last few minutes of the half when goals from Ronan Wilson and Owen Gillard so us stretch our lead to 2-5 v 0-2 at the break.

Just after half time Johns lost 2 players to straight red cards and a third to a black card and all fight went out of them. Fair dues to our lads for sticking to their task and saw scores coming from Fergal Boland, Oisín Flynn, Dáire Barrins, Matthew and Andrew Blakeney, James Tully, Rian Winters, James Rafter meant we had our easiest win in years.

The team now progress to play Geevagh/St.Michaels in the Shield semi final away

Team: Liam Donegan, Daniel Ruane, Fergal Boland, Patrick Cooney, Colm Naughton, James Tully Ronan Wilson, Andrew Blakeney, Dáire Barrins, Oisín Flynn, Rian Winters, Owen Gillard, Matthew Blakeney James Rafter

U14 Hurling League 3 May 2018

Castleconnor 3-7 v Benbulben Gaels 4-10

In a very busy evening on Thursday at Corballa the hurlers took on Benbulben Gaels in near perfect conditions. This was a very good showing from our lads and when Dara Stenson scored a goal from a rebound we were within a point of the visitors. However their number 7 who was unmarkable on the evening scored a goal and an excellent point to ease their worries.

U12 Football League 1 May 2018

Castleconnor 8 v Enniscrone 20

The physically stronger Enniscrone took over in the last 2 quarters to record an easy victory in the end. For the first 2 quarters the game was up and down the field with the lead changing regularly and the minimum between the sides at the end of the 2nd quarter.

However in the third Enniscrone took a hod around the middle of the field and from there did not let the ball pass and by the end of the 3rd the game was over. In the last quarter we got more involved and could have scored more but 2 scores in this time was as good as it got for us.

U16 B Football League 30 Apr 2018

Castleconnor 6-10 v Shamrock Gaels 5-9

This was an exciting game in Corballa with both teams giving their all for the hour. We started badly and were lucky to only trail 0-5 to no score after 10 minutes. A break from defence saw Matthew Blakeney score a goal and from the kickout a point. We went into the lead briefly with another goal from Thomas Langan and should have extended it with a number of chances not availed of. At the half time break we trailed 2-3 v 2-5.

Gaels got a goal straight from the throw in but a very productive spell saw us come back and equalise with goals from James Rafter and Oisín Flynn. Gordon McHale, Patrick Cooney and Daniel Ruane were very strong at this time in defence and it paid off when Stephen Rogan popped over a few points and Oisín and Thomas scored goals. Next was Patrick Cooney to score a goal turning defence into attack. We went into a 7 point lead and missed a number of easy chances but our ability to absorb pressure and break out of defence at speed proved the winner move with Eli O'Neill and Rian Winters carrying a load of ball out of defence. A penalty with the last kick of the game. The team are in action in 2 weeks when they take on the amalgamation of Easkey/Enniscrone/Kilglass

Team: Liam Donegan, Rian Winters, Gordon McHale, Daniel Ruane, Patrick Cooney, Matthew Blakeney, Eli O'Neill, Oisín Flynn, Dara Flynn Cathal Feeney, Thomas Langan, Niall Wilson, Eoin Duffy, James Rafter, Sean Donegan, Cian Flynn

U14 A Football league 26 Apr 2018

Castleconnor 5-9 v Owenmore Gaels 4-10

This was an excellent victory for the team to retain their position at the top of the division. The result was the more significant considering 11 of the panel were involved earlier in the day winning the Connacht D final with Enniscrone convent.

The game was a ding dong affair but the hard work the lads put in for the last few weeks paid off with a good win.

U12 Hurling League Apr 24 2018

Castleconnor 5-3 v Calry 0-0

A good victory for our lads in their first league game of the season. We were physically the stronger and our better wrist work and team work lead to a handy victory.

Lotto Apr 21 2018

The jackpot was €14600, numbers drawn were 4 7 19 32

New jackpot €14700, thanks for playing

Division 2 league Apr 21 2018

Castleconnor 4-8 v Bunninadden 0-12

This was an excellent win away from home on Saturday evening. We welcomed back Kevin Mc for this game and he scored our first goal in the game where we turned around at half time trailing 1-3 v 0-10

Sean came on for the second half and had an influence but it was Luke Munnelly who was the main scorer with 2-3 to his name. We finished the game strongly and Sean Carrabine scored a goal with the last kick of the game . There is a break for a number of weeks now as the Sligo team prepare for the game in London on May 6th

U14 Hurling Apr 19 2018

Castleconnor 7-4 v Naomh Eoin 5-4

This was a great result for the team having made the long journey to Kent Park in Sligo to take on the team that beat us in the u12 A final last year. It was close throughout but unlike in our first game where we faded away in the second half we continued to push on till the end to record a sweet victory and get out campaign back on track

U12 Football Apr 17 2018

Castleconnor 21 v St.Farnans 1

The whole panel put on a great performance particularly in the 1st and final quarter. The middle 2 quarters we found it hard to put many scores on the board but our defence refused to give an inch. The style of play of the team was very enjoyable to watch with the team always looking for the free man to pass too.

Well done all

U16 football

Castleconnor 6-8 v St.Farnans/St.Pats 4-4 Apr16 2018

Played in atrocious conditions in Templeboy with gale force wind and rain throughout it was a credit to all concerned that the game took place. We got off to a quick start with 2-1 scored against the breeze but as the half wore on the home team cam back into it with a number of scores and at half time we lead 4-6 v 3-3.

Scores were in short supply in the first part of the second half but a few goals from Thomas Langan and points from Oisín Flynn near the end of the half had us winning 6-8 v 4-4

Team: Liam Donegan, Cian Flynn, Rian Winters, Gordon McHale, Daniel Ruane, Patrick Cooney, Matthew Blakeney, Eli O'Neill, Oisín Flynn, Dara Flynn Cathal Feeney, Thomas Langan, Niall Wilson, Eoin Duffy, James Rafter, Sean Donegan

U14 Football A league Apr15 2018

Castleconnor 2-17 v St.Molaise Gaels 4-10

Molaise Gaels won the toss and played with an exceptionally strong wind in the 1st half. Using the wind well and playing long balls at every opportunity they raced into an early lead. Our lads played some good football too but scores were hard to come by, however Seamus Foody found the net to keep us in touch. Half time score had Molaise leading by 12 points, 3-8 to 1-2.

Molaise Gaels got off to a great start in the 2nd half hitting another goal early but we came roaring back and chipped away at the lead. Great scores from distance from Cathal Feeney, Cian Flynn and Stephen Rogan got us closer. With 10 minutes to go Stephen Rogan struck for an spectacular individual goal closing the gap to 3 with time running out. At this stage Molaise Gaels had everyone back and struggled to get out of their own half due to excellent work rate especially from Mathew langan, Padraic Gavin, Lee Gilmartin and Eoghan Durkan. A huge long rang point by Cathal Feeney and frees from Stephen Rogan levelled it up. The final play resulted in the excellent Oisin Quinn winning a breaking ball and driving forward to win a 30m free which was expertly converted by Stephen Rogan with the last kick of the game.

The U14s have now won their first two games and are joint top of the Div 1 table with St Marys.

Team: William Foody, Conor Stenson, Cian Flynn, Barry Kilcullen, Eoghan Durkan, Oisin Quinn, Lee Gilmartin, Cathal Feeney, Stephen Rogan, Mathew Langan, Padraic Gavin, Jack Byron, Seamus Foody, Darragh Flynn, Paul Ruane, Conor McAloon, Stephen Gawley, Neil Rafter, David Holmes, Neil Rafter.

Division 2 League Apr 14 2018

Castleconnor 2-11 v St.Farnans 1-6

This home game against West division rivals Farnans took place on Saturday evening. Both teams were missing county players but the lads who were able to play played excellently especially in the first 42 minutes when we went into a 2-10 v 1-4 lead.

We got off to a great start when there was a mixup in the Farnans defence and under pressure from Odhran Quinn a goal was scored. Throughout the half our tackling was excellent and the ball into the forward line who were always showing was very good. At the break we turned over at 1-6 v 1-3 lead with Farnans goal coming from the penalty spot.

The first 10 minutes of the second hald was where the game was won with a string of points from Luke Munnelly, Eoin Kent, Odhran Quinn and Seán Carrabine who came on at the break. When Sean was taken down for a penalty he dispatched it into the the top right. We went into our shell then and the ball was not making it into the forwards as before but the defence were playing like players possessed with Niall Judge in particular huge at this time.

The team travel to Bunninadden on Saturday evening for the next round.

Team: Kenneth Healy, Brendan Howley, Keith Earlis, Ronan Keane, Niall Judge, Rory Healy, Eoin Kent, Ciarán Kilcullen, John McDonnell, Luke Munnelly, Jason Earlis, Alan Cawley, Odhrán Quinn, Brian Howley, Micheál Cahill. Subs: Seán Carrabine, Liam Naughton, Brian Mahoney

Minor B League Apr 13 2018

Castleconnor 1-1 v Tubbercurry/Cloonacool 2-14

Down a number of key players but with the complete panel eligible for this grade next year the team are on a huge learning curve. Unusually there was no breeze at all for this game, which was postponed by the referee the previous week due to underfoot conditions. Tubber got off to a great start and their keeper also scored a number of long range frees for them. In the second half we continued to work hard and got our just reward with a goal from Cathal Feeney and a point from Rian Winters after excellent build up play starting right back with the keeper Liam.

Team: Liam Donegan, Daniel Ruane, Fergal Boland, Patrick Cooney, Colm Naughton, James Tully, Andrew Blakeney, Oisín Flynn, Rian Winters, Dáire Barrins, Matthew Blakeney, Owen Gillard, Eoin Duffy, Cathal Feeney

Division 2 league

On Saturday evening Easkey were the visitors to Corballa for the second round of the league. A very tight first half where the visitors were leading by a point thanks to their keeper making 2 great saves. This was to prove very important with Easkey scoring a goal just after the halftime break to open a gap. Despite both teams only scoring 2 points between them the next 20mins Easkey scored a few late goals to pull away and win 4-7 v 0-7. Scorers for us on the day were Paul Flynn, Sean Carrabine, Mícheál Cahill and Odhrán Quinn. Our next game is another west Sligo derby against St.Farnans.

U14hurling

The team had their first game of the year versus Tourlestrane. We got off to a good start and lead at the break by 4 points but in the second half Tourlestrane took their chances and won the game 3-4 v 2-3. The team are taking part in the All Ireland Feilé and have been drawn with a Donegal, Cavan and Benbulben Gaels teams.

PRO Notes March 28

U16

This group have been very busy this last week with 2 games

Castleconnor 4-6 v Coolera Strandhill 8-16

With a number of lads out with injury and others in a Connacht rugby semifinal we had the exact numbers required. Despite this we turned over at half time trailing 1-4 v 3-7. We narrowed the gap with a goal and point after the break but the strong visitors midfield moved up a gear and had the game won with time to spare.

Castleconnor 5-7 v Tubbercurry\Cloonacool 4-10

This was a very exciting game in Cloonacool on Wednesday evening. We got some great scores and at half time we lead 3-4 v 2-4. After the break we the game was level but we hit a purple patch with goals from Stephen Rogan and a wonder goal from Thomas Langan to stretch the lead to 7. But as is the way with underage the home team came back into it and went into the lead with 5 minutes to go. With a minute to go we won a free about 35m out towards the sdeline and Oisín Flynn pinged it over the bar to get a deserved draw. Team- Liam Donegan, Gordon McHale, Daniel Ruane, Rian Winters, Patrick Cooney, Cian Flynn, Matthew Blakeney, Oisín Flynn, Cathal Feeney, Thomas Langan, Dara Flynn, Stephen Rogan, Danny Donegan

Intermediate - Benson Cup

Castleconnor 0-10 v Easkey 3-11

Played in Easkey where the grass could have done with a bit of a cut we looked very good in the first few minutes with Doogie Kilcullen scoring from long range but one or two mistakes in defence coming out with the ball let Easkey in for 2 goals to have them leading 0-5 v 2-5 at the break. The second half both teams should ahve scored goals but Easkey got one and ensured they would win. It was good to see some lads in their first or second year contributing to the game with Odhran Quinn(2pts) and Brian Mahoney (1pt) and Niall Judge in the backline working hard throughout.

Next Saturday evening we travel to Dromard to take on St.Pats in the first round of the league proper.

County matters

Well a good day for all supportes within the parish. For Sligo, with Offaly winning Sligo had to come back from 4 points down with 15 to go with Kevin Mc getting back in the game with a goal and Seán coming on at half time and scoring the winning point in injury time.

Mayo despite a lot of steps ensured their division 1 status in Ballybofey on Sunday.

In London, Barry Judge was on duty (no umpires get the trip - come on GAA get this sorted) where David Carrabine started at wing back for London. An injury meant he came off at the break and it went downhill for London after that losing an eight point lead....is the Seán-David match up on May 6 still on - a lot of us will be there to see!

Kevin and Seán were in good form after the game when they met up with the Sextons

The crazy weather over the weekend meant the Sligo v Mayo game moved from Markievicz, to Quigabar and then eventually to Ballina. Kevin Mc is still out injured but Seán Carrabine came into the game in the first half where he and Colm Boyle got close and personal a few times but overall Seán can be very happy with his game. A large contingent from the parish was in attendance which was great to see.

Next weekend Sligo are away in Armagh and Mayo are also up north in Clones v Monaghan (if it stops raining!!!)

The proposed fixtures for the local club leagues in Sligo should be sent to clubs by Monday so hopefully next week we will have an idea when teams are out playing competitively

County matters

Seán Carrabine has been starting for Sligo in the last 2 FBD games and done well. Could we see Seán being marked by his brother David when Sligo lead by our own Kevin McDonnell play London in the Connacht championship in May

Barry Judge and his team were in Clonbur on Sunday looking after Galway v Leitrim. It was wet!!

And for Mayo there was increased interest in their last 2 games - more than normal as Peter Naughton, son of Declan, Carns was starting and scored a goal on Friday night v Galway

Men Health and Wellbeing group

An increased number of men took to the beach at Bartra on Sunday morning on a lovely morning for a run/jog/walk/crawl.

Next Sunday morning they are heading to Belleek for 10am. If interested just turn up or get in contact with Ollie Sexton or a committee member

Handball

Well done to Karly Cooney and Darragh Bourke who qualified for the All Ireland finals in a few weeks. All in the handball are preparing for the annual Gerard Jones tournament.

This week donations can be made in Ballina Tue-Thur

Next week you will be able to donate in the Diamond Coast on Thursday evening

Sympathies

The club extend their sympathies to the family and friends of Kieran Ruane Dooneen who died in London last week. Kieran played football for the club in the early 70s and was part of a very good team that reached an A county final as well as a strong Ballina Vocational school team that had 5 starting Castleconnor players on their winning senior team.

The club would also like to extend their sympathies to friends and family of Joe McManus, Enniscrone. Joe was a true gent and GAA person.
